All right, so I got my two dogs — or my three dogs — today are Molly; she’s a Jack Russel pug who’s — likes to bang on the cupboard and try to get treats. She sleeps in the bed at night and lays around on the couch all day. And then Gypsy is my parents’ dog. She’s an English Setter. She has diabetes, so she has to get a couple shots of penicillin every day. She’s getting pretty skinny. But she’s a good, good girl. And then Paisley, the crazy Border Collie, is outside waiting for me to come out there so she can play with her frisbee. Pais, come here! Come here! Good girl. Here she comes. A black-and-white border collie. Yeah you’re a good girl, aren’t ya? So, anyways, those are the three dogs that are living with us today.

The archive provides:
- Recordings of accent/dialect speakers from the region you select.
- Text of the speakers’ biographical details.
- Scholarly commentary and analysis in some cases.
- In most cases, an orthographic transcription of the speakers’ unscripted speech. In a small number of cases, you will also find a narrow phonetic transcription of the sample (see Phonetic Transcriptions for a complete list). The recordings average four minutes in length and feature both the reading of one of two standard passages, and some unscripted speech. The two passages are Comma Gets a Cure (currently our standard passage) and The Rainbow Passage (used in our earliest recordings).
