Um, I’m from Basel and, but now I live in Riehen. That’s a city in Basel. Um, I go, um, to gymnasium kirschgarten, but I want to change, um, to Bäumlihof because it’s much closer to, um, my home. And in my freetime, I like to see my friends and go out. Um, I don’t like the hot weather right now, but it’s OK. I much, um, I like the winter much more; um, not really, because I don’t have anything to do, but I’m looking forward to basically because I have free time for myself, and I don’t have to study anymore; yeah, that would be relaxing, and, yeah, OK, um. …

The archive provides:
- Recordings of accent/dialect speakers from the region you select.
- Text of the speakers’ biographical details.
- Scholarly commentary and analysis in some cases.
- In most cases, an orthographic transcription of the speakers’ unscripted speech. In a small number of cases, you will also find a narrow phonetic transcription of the sample (see Phonetic Transcriptions for a complete list). The recordings average four minutes in length and feature both the reading of one of two standard passages, and some unscripted speech. The two passages are Comma Gets a Cure (currently our standard passage) and The Rainbow Passage (used in our earliest recordings).
